ToggleHow to change Motorola APN settings?
The APN (Access Point Name) allows your Motorola to connect properly to the mobile data network. In this guide, we’ll show you how to configure it step by step so you can enjoy a stable connection wherever you are.
What is the APN for Free Roaming eSIM?
Free Roaming eSIMs are preconfigured with the correct APN, so in most cases, you won’t need to change anything when you start using mobile data. However, if you run into issues with connection or activation at your destination, manually updating the APN settings on your Android device can help improve connectivity.
If needed, just enter “globaldata” in the appropriate fields by following the steps below to ensure a stable and reliable connection.
To set up APN Android settings on Motorola:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Tap on Mobile Network > Select your Free Roaming eSIM.
- Scroll down and tap on Access Point Names > Check if there is an APN labeled ‘globaldata’ and select it. If it doesn’t appear, you’ll need to create it. To do so, press the + button > In the Name field, type “Free Roaming” to easily recognize it.
- Then, in the APN field, enter the word globaldata > Tap the three dots at the top right > Choose Save > Once the changes are saved, select the newly created APN (Free Roaming) > Finally, restart your device to apply the settings.
Troubleshooting tips:
1. If you’ve already entered the correct APN settings on your Motorola device but still don’t have a connection, resetting your network settings might help. This will restore the default network configuration and can resolve any connectivity issues or inconsistencies.
Keep in mind that resetting will affect your Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth connections, but won’t delete your personal data. Make sure to back up any saved Wi-Fi passwords before proceeding.
Up next, we’ll guide you through the proper steps to reset your network settings.
To reset network settings on a Motorola Phone:
- Go to Settings > Scroll down and tap on System > Select Reset options > Tap on Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth > Finally, tap on Reset settings to reset your network. (If prompted, enter the PIN you use to unlock your screen and tap Next).
2. If your device is in an area covered by the eSIM plan and the APN is correctly configured, but you still can’t connect to the internet after resetting the network settings, try manually switching the operator.
3. If your phone is from another brand like Samsung, Huawei or Xioami, you’ll get easy-to-follow steps for setting up your Android APN settings without any hassle.
