How to change Nokia APN Android settings?

Now more than ever, staying connected is essential. If you’re using a Nokia and experiencing connection issues, setting up the APN might be the solution. Whether you’ve switched carriers or need to update your network settings, here’s how to do it easily from your phone’s settings.

Free Roaming’s APN settings on Android

To use your Free Roaming eSIM on a Nokia device, it’s important to configure the APN settings correctly. If you can’t connect to the network after activating your eSIM, just enter “globaldata” in the APN field to get things working.

Also, make sure your Free Roaming eSIM is selected for Mobile Data, this step is required before you can adjust the APN.

Here’s a step by step guide to help you set it up and get connected:

Steps to change APN Android settings on Nokia:

  • Go to Settings > Network & internet > Mobile network > Tap on your Free Roaming eSIM.
  • Scroll down and tap on Access Point Names or Advanced, and then Access Point Names > Check if there is an APN labeled “globaldata” and select it. If it doesn’t appear, you’ll need to create it. To do so, tap the + at the top right > In the Name field, type “Free Roaming” to easily recognize it.
  • Then, in the APN field, enter the word “globaldata” >  Leave the other fields empty > Tap the three dots in the top right corner > Select Save > Finally, make sure to select the newly created APN (Free Roaming) as the default for your Nokia, otherwise, it won’t activate correctly.

Troubleshooting tips

1. If you’ve entered the Nokia APN settings incorrectly or, after configuring the correct APN, you still can’t connect or receive a data signal, a good solution is to reset the network settings.

This will erase all Wi-Fi, mobile network, and Bluetooth configurations, restoring them to factory defaults. Make sure to back up your Wi-Fi passwords beforehand. Next, we’ll walk you through the steps:

To reset network settings on Nokia phones:

  • Go to Settings > Scroll down and tap on System > Select Reset options > Choose Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth > Tap on Reset settings (If prompted, enter the PIN you use to unlock your screen).

2. If your device is in an area covered by the eSIM plan and the APN is correctly configured, but you still can’t connect to the internet after resetting the network settings, try switching the operator manually.

3. If your phone is from another brand like Samsung, Xiaomi, Motorola, Vivo, Huawei, Oppo, Sony, OnePlus or Pixel, you’ll get easy-to-follow steps for setting up your Android APN settings without any hassle.
