- If one installation method doesn’t work, try the other. If the QR code fails, try for manual installation.
How to install an eSIM on your Honor device?
You can set up your eSIM on an Honor device in two ways: by scanning a QR code or entering the details manually. Below, we’ll guide you through both methods.
To install an eSIM on Honor with a QR Code:
- Go to Settings > Select Mobile Networks > Tap on SIM Management > Select Add eSIM > Enable the eSIM option > Scan the QR code > Tap on Add eSIM (Don’t close this window, or the installation will stop).
To install an eSIM on Honor using manual codes:

How to activate an eSIM on your Honor device?
To make the most of your Honor with eSIM, it’s best to activate it once you arrive at your destination. But if you activated it in advance, don’t worry. You can simply deactivate it and turn off roaming until you’re ready to connect.
Follow these steps to activate your Free Roaming eSIM on your Honor device:
- Go to Settings > Select Mobile Networks > Tap on SIM Management > Set up your Free Roaming eSIM as Default mobile data > Deactivate your Personal SIM > Tap on your Free Roaming eSIM > Check that the eSIM option is select it > Select your Free Roaming eSIM.
- Tap on Enable to turn on the eSIM > Go back three times until you reach the Mobile Networks menu > Choose Mobile Data > Enable the Mobile Data and Data Roaming switches.
To keep in mind:
- The compatibility of eSIM with devices may vary depending on the operator and the country of manufacture.
- Remember, the manual code is not a link. You only need to copy and paste it into the designated field, ensuring it’s entered fully without spaces.
- On Honor devices with eSIM and Dual SIM support, like the Honor 90, you can use both a physical SIM and the eSIM at the same time, but only one can be active for mobile data.
- Remember that the Honor Magic 6 Lite and Honor 70 are not compatible with eSIM.
- Once you reach your destination, disable your personal SIM to avoid roaming charges.
Troubleshooting tips
If your Honor device isn’t connecting to the network via eSIM after enabling data roaming at your destination, try manually selecting a network. This can often resolve the issue.
Here’s how to do it step by step:
- Go to Settings > Select Mobile Networks > Tap Mobile data > Choose Carrier > Turn off the Automatic switch > Tap on OK to confirm the selection > Wait for the available networks to load > Then select the operator with the best signal and connection > Try browsing again.
