ToggleHow to edit APN settings on Xiaomi?
To maintain an uninterrupted mobile connection on your Xiaomi, it’s important to have the APN configured correctly. This setting controls how your device accesses the internet and uses mobile data. eSIMs like Free Roaming typically include the APN by default, but if you’ve switched devices or reset your phone, you may need to set it up manually.
What is the APN for Free Roaming eSIM?
Free Roaming eSIMs are preconfigured with the correct APN, so in most cases, you won’t need to change anything when you start using mobile data. However, if you run into issues with connection or activation at your destination, manually updating the APN settings on your Android device can help improve connectivity.
If needed, just enter “globaldata” in the appropriate fields by following the steps below to ensure a stable and reliable connection.
To edit APN settings on Xiaomi:
- Go to Settings > Mobile networks > Select your Free Roaming eSIM > Tap on Access point names.
- Check if there is an APN with the word ‘globaldata’ and select it, if it doesn’t appear, you need to create it > To create it, press in New APN > In the Name option, type Free Roaming to recognize it.
- Then, in APN, enter the word ‘globaldata’ > Tap on More > Choose Save > Once the changes are saved, select the newly created APN (Free Roaming) > Lastly please Restart your device.
Troubleshooting tips:
1. If you’ve entered the correct APN Xiaomi settings but are still unable to connect, resetting your network settings may help. This action can fix network-related errors and restore your device’s default connection settings.
Keep in mind that resetting will affect your Wi-Fi, mobile data, and Bluetooth connections, but won’t delete your personal data. Make sure to back up any saved Wi-Fi passwords before proceeding.
Now, let’s walk you through the steps to reset your network settings:
To reset network settings on Xiaomi:
- Go to Settings > Tap on More connectivity options > Then select Reset Wi-Fi, mobile networks, and Bluetooth > Finally tap on the Reset settings to reset your network (If you’re prompted to enter a PIN, enter the code you use to unlock the screen and tap Next).
2. If your device is in an area covered by the eSIM plan and the APN is correctly configured, but you still can’t connect to the internet after resetting the network settings, try manually switching the operator.
3. If your phone is from another brand like Samsung, Huawei or Motorola, you’ll get easy-to-follow steps for setting up your Android APN settings without any hassle.
