What happens when you use all your data?

When your Free Roaming eSIM runs out of data or days, it stops working. If you still need a connection, you’ll need to recharge it. Unused data does not carry over or transfer. Here’s how to manage it properly to avoid unexpected disconnections.

How to know if you have exhausted your mobile data?

You can check your data usage directly from your phone.

To check data usage on iPhone:

  • Go to Settings > Tap Cellular or Mobile Data > Scroll down to Cellular Data or Mobile Data > Check Current Period to see the amount of data used.

To check data usage on Android:

  • Go to Settings > Tap Connections > Select Data Usage > You’ll see the total data usage for the current period.

Things to keep in mind:

Properly managing your Free Roaming eSIM helps avoid issues while traveling. Here are the key points to remember:

  • Your eSIM’s validity period begins when you arrive at your destination, enable roaming, and the eSIM connects to a supported network. Depending on your selected plan, you’ll have a set number of days or gigabytes available.
  • For plans with limited data, GBs are distributed evenly per day. If you’re concerned about running out of data, consider purchasing a top-up before your plan expires.
  • If you have an unlimited data plan, you won’t run out of data, but speeds may slow down if you exceed the Fair Usage Policy limit set by the local operator.
  • Once the validity period ends, you’ll need to recharge to continue using your eSIM.

Recommendations

Having remaining data or days on your eSIM but being unable to connect may indicate a connection issue on your device, not that your plan has expired. Check your network settings on your iPhone or Android before assuming the plan has run out.
