What happens to unused data after the end of my plan?

Staying connected on your trip? keep in mind that your Free Roaming eSIM only works for the duration of your chosen plan. Once it expires, any leftover data disappears, as Free Roaming doesn’t support data rollover.

In this article, we’ll break down your plan’s limits, share practical tips to stretch your data, and show you how to track your usage wisely. Use every megabyte to the fullest before time runs out!

Understanding the limits of your Free Roaming eSIM plan

eSIMs with fixed data packages will expire either when you run out of data or when the validity period ends, whichever happens first. Daily GB packages eSIMs automatically expire once the number of purchased days is over. Unlimited data eSIMs don’t have daily limits, but they will expire at the end of the selected period.

Ways to get the most out of your plan

  • To make the most of your eSIM, activate it only after you’ve reached your destination, activating it too early could cost you a full day of usage. If you’ve set it up in advance, keep it turned off until you’re ready.
  • Buy only the number of days you’ll actually use to avoid wasting unused data.

To check data usage on an iPhone:

  • Go to Settings > Tap on Cellular > Scroll down to the section Cellular Data For Personal > You’ll see the total data consumption for the current period.

Tips and practical solutions

Controlling the data you share is key to optimizing your plan. On both iPhone and Android, you can check this information and adjust your usage based on your needs.

How to check hotspot usage on iPhone:

  • Open Settings > Tap on Cellular or Mobile Data > Scroll down > Check Personal Hotspot. Here, you can see how much data you’ve used for your hotspot.

How to check hotspot usage on Android:

Things to keep in mind

Did you activate your eSIM before traveling? No worries. It only fully activates once roaming is turned on and it connects to a local network, the plan won’t start counting days until then. Just reactivate it when you arrive at your destination.
